I called over to the shop, and was told to come on over after work today
so that I could watch them paint the car.

Larry painted the under side of the hood and rear deck lid, along with the
inside of the trunk with a single stage enamel this past Saturday
morning.

I got to help a little bit by masking off the under side of both the hood
and deck lid while Larry finished masking off the car itself.

First, the car was touched up with a thin primer to cover up the spots
that had thin primer from the sanding process. Then it was time to use the
sealer.

This sealer is a gun metal gray or purple color, and is color matched to
the guardsman blue paint. It looks like a chalky flat color when dry.

After allowing that to dry, the first coat of Guardsman blue was applied.

Waiting for each coat to get tacky in between (15-20 min) Larry finally
applied 3 coats of color, and 2 coats of clear coat.

Everything was left to dry overnight.

This color is great. I don't know why more people don't use it!

I stopped by for a few minutes at lunch today, and snapped some pictures
of the re-assembly progress.

The hood and fenders are back on, along with part of the stone deflector.

This is my first look at the front of the car with the new color.

Wow...

Larry was starting to wet-sand the clear coat as I left.

Things are probably going to slow down a bit now. Today, I arrived to find
the car moved out of the paint booth, and the wet sanding / buffing
completed.

There is still fuzz all over the car, so it is hard to see how good the
paint looks. But they did put the tail lights back on, and added the
quarter panel trim "scoops".
